What is bamboo tree?

You must be aware that bamboo often grows and flourishes during the summer season. During the rainy season, the roaring of clouds causes cracks in the bamboo festivals, the female bamboo is soft and the male bamboo is solid.

There are many species of bamboo in which flowers come only once in their life time and then they are completely destroyed after a short time. Flowers come in every 3 years in some castes and there are also bamboo of very few species, which come in every year.

In addition to the main species mentioned above, there is another species (golden dynasty, yellow dynasty or yellow bamboo) which is used in medicine.

Bambusa  vulgaris  schrad :- It is about 18 m high, intermediate in size. Its stem is soft and yellow in color. Its leaves are spear-shaped, lined and pointed at the front. It is sweet in nature, slightly bitter and cold in nature. It helps in relieving the symptoms of fever.

 This plant is also used commercially. Its stem is very useful. Wooden houses are also made with bamboo trunk. Bamboo also makes paper. Many types of household furniture are made of bamboo wood.

 This plant releases a lot of oxygen from other trees. Bamboo receives more amount of carbon dioxide than other trees. This is why bamboo trees are useful from the environmental point of view. In a way, bamboo purifies the environment.

 The bamboo plant is considered to be the plant of growth in Indian culture. It is also considered a symbol of prosperity. Bamboo plants are also planted near the wedding pavilions in India. Bamboo is considered auspicious in Vastu Shastra.

 According to Hindu belief, burning bamboo is inauspicious.

 According to the belief associated with Lord Krishna, the burning of bamboo causes Pitradosh. Krishna used to play a flute made of bamboo wood. Therefore, it is considered inauspicious to burn bamboo wood. It is also believed that where bamboo plant is there, evil spirits do not come there.

 There is also a scientific reason that bamboo should not be burnt Bamboo leaves poisonous smoke on burning. Bamboo contains some polluted metals whose oxides are formed upon burning.
