Introduction
Sal tree is native to the Indian subcontinent, which is an evergreen tree. This tree is known as Sakhua tree in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand in North India. The most characteristic feature of this Sal’s tree is that it is suitable for many types of natural habitats, such as 9 cm to 500 cm with annual rainfall and it can even survive in very uneven (hot and cold) temperature.
Where are found?
Sal tree is a tree commonly found in hilly areas and dense forests, which are found in large quantities in countries like Nepal and South Himalayas. This tree is spread in large quantities in some states of India such as Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand to the hills of Haryana east of Yamuna.
Life span
It is usually a very slow growing tree, from 10 to15 plant only one plant survives, and others die due to different reasons. The average age of this tree is usually 19 to 40 years, but in this era, a lot of furniture is being made from the wood, due to which it can survive for 15 to 25 years.
Sal’s leaf
The leaves of this tree are about 10cm to 25 cm in length and about 5 cm to 15 cm in width, which are dark green in color. These leaves bloom in April and May and most of the leaves begin to fall between mid of February and April.

The flowers of this tree are red, brown and light white, which are very beautiful. Sal tree flowers are also found in light pink, orange, yellow and white color. Its fruits start appearing in this flower itself. These are blossoming flowers along with leaves, which are ready to bloom in early April.

Its fruits usually mature and become ready in the summer season. It looks exactly like a flower, but after ripening it takes the form of fruits, which are like seeds in a way. After the fruit is ready, it becomes round in shape, which looks like a small form of coconut.
