Amla is called Amrit phal or Dhatri Phal in Ayurveda. Amla’s (Scientific Name -Phyllanthus Emblica) is being used as a medicine from years ago.

The medicine that is made from the plant is called Kāṣṭhauṣadhi and the medicine made from metal and mineral is called Rasaushadhi. It is used in both these types of medicine. Even Amla is considered to be the best of the chemicals, that is to say, when the hair becomes lifeless and dry then using Amla brings a new life to the hair. Dry hair starts getting black again, thick and shiny after applying amla’s paste.

Amla is mentioned in Charaka Samhita for the medicine for increasing age, reducing fever, curing cough and eliminating leprosy. Similarly, in the Sushruta Samhita, the medicinal properties of amla have been described.

Amla Disadvantages

So now you know how Amlas are beneficial for all parts and systems, from head hair to toenails. Although Amla is a natural medicinal fruit, but it also has few side effects. But the good thing is that its side effects are rare and usually occur in high doses.

It can have a bad effect on cold and cough triggers due to the soft tendency of amla. To end this side effect, consume it with black pepper or honey.

If you do not consume it with water, it can cause constipation.

Amla can interfere with diabetes medication. Its ethos may prove harmful to blood pressure. Therefore, the heart patient should consume it only with the advice of a doctor.
